I couldn't function without local news. It's part of my daily routine and keeps me grounded in what's going on in my community. I dispair for where we're headed when I see the serious cuts that are being made to all the various working components of the Halifax Herald. I don't think any orgaization can survive and thrive without the dedication and commitment of it's workers. Undoubtably these deep cuts to staff weaken this paper and lessen it's chances of survival, rather than strengthen it.

The Daily News was my creature comfort each day; losing the quality and quantity of local news in the Herald is another step toward the abyss of "upalongers" controlling content.
