Just wanted to thank all of my union sisters and brothers for their support over my last five years working in The Herald newsroom.
You guys rock my world!

Your unionized friends at the Moncton Times and Transcript are with you in spirit. Your efforts and determination are admired. It's a battle all newspaper unions will have to wage. Keeping the product local is the key to everyone's survival and your ground-breaking efforts will serve to inspire us all. Good luck and keep the faith. Dwayne Tingley CWA Canada Local 636 President.

I strongly support keeping our news local. What will happen if this doesn't happen? Someone else will see the need (for local news) and step up to the plate... this could very well put The Chronicle Hearld to bed for good. Thank you.

I urge the herald to reconsider this knee jerk response which, if implemented in its entirety will cripple the ability to maintain hardwon credibilty with your core readership.

Keep it up. You are the last half decent publication left. Those Greasy Scumbags at transcon wouldn't know there ass from a hole in the ground. Keep the last local privately owned paper doing what it can do.

Thanks to all who have supported the now closed Amherst Bureau for 26.5-plus years. Without this bureau, and a decrease in reporters in Truro Bureau, Sydney Bureau and other bureaus, how can we truly be a "provincial" paper interested in local news.

I couldn't function without local news. It's part of my daily routine and keeps me grounded in what's going on in my community. I dispair for where we're headed when I see the serious cuts that are being made to all the various working components of the Halifax Herald. I don't think any orgaization can survive and thrive without the dedication and commitment of it's workers. Undoubtably these deep cuts to staff weaken this paper and lessen it's chances of survival, rather than strengthen it.

I am temporarily re-located to Cape Breton but my home remains Halifax. The Daily News was my creature comfort each day; losing the quality and quantity of local news in the Herald is another step toward the abyss of "upalongers" controlling content. I hate the thought of that happening and I was born and raised in T.O.

It's time for managers to practise what they preach and take their share of the cuts. Let them lead by example.
